U.S. DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY (DOE)

On October 16, 2019, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Fossil Energy issued the authorization for Venture Global Plaquemines LNG to export domestically produced liquefied natural gas from its Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana export facility to non-free trade agreement (FTA) countries.  Under the terms of the order, Plaquemines LNG is authorized to export up to 1,240 billion cubic feet (Bcf) per year of natural gas (3.4 Bcf/day) for a period of 25 years, to commence on the earlier of the date of first export or seven years from the date of the requested authorization.  This order follows the DOE’s previous authorizations to export to FTA countries.

FEDERAL ENERGY REGULATORY COMMISSION (FERC)

On September 30, 2019, the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) issued the Order Granting Authorizations under Sections 3 and 7 of the Natural Gas Act for Venture Global Plaquemines LNG export facility and Gator Express Pipeline. The Order allows Venture Global to site, construct, and operated the project in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana.

Plaquemines LNG and Gator Express Pipeline were assigned the docket numbers CP17-66 and CP17-67, and filings can be found and read in full at FERC’s website.

 


 

Regulatory Permits and Approvals

Other agencies with regulating authority include the U.S. Dept. of Transportation, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality, Louisiana Department of Natural Resources, and various other agencies of the state of Louisiana and Plaquemines and Jefferson Parishes.
