Venture Global LNG Adds Vice President of Power Plant Engineering to Expanding Leadership Team
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Venture Global LNG, Inc. is pleased to announce that Tom Newton, formerly a Vice President of the AES Corporation, has joined the company as Vice President of Engineering. Newton will be responsible for the engineering and operations of the CCGT power plant that will generate electricity to power Venture Global’s 10.0 MMTPA facility in southwestern Louisiana. The Venture Global project is expected to be one of the most efficient and cleanest LNG facilities in the world. “Hiring Tom Newton is another step in Venture Global LNG’s continuing focus on building a world-class team.” said William M. Wicker, CEO of Venture Global LNG. “Tom has invaluable engineering experience and is a critical addition to ensure Venture Global will export LNG with lower capital costs and increased operating flexibility and efficiency.” Newton brings to Venture Global LNG more than 30 years of experience in the engineering, construction and operations of power plants worldwide. At the AES Corporation, he was responsible for worldwide performance improvement of 123 electric generating plants. Prior to AES, Newton worked for Southern Company and its affiliates as Plant Manager and Director of European Operations. Throughout his career, Tom has been responsible for optimizing plant operational and commercial performance for a power portfolio in excess of 90,000 MW.
