Shell To Take Twice As Much LNG From Planned Calcasieu LNG: developers
Shell has agreed to double its offtake from the planned 10 million mt/year Calcasieu Pass LNG facility in Louisiana, project developer Venture Global LNG said in a statement Tuesday.
With this revised agreement, Shell’s total offtake commitment from the facility stands at 2 million mt/year over a 20-year period.
Only 3 million mt/year of the plant’s 10 million mt/year capacity has so far been committed, with Italy’s Edison having agreed to buy the other 1 million mt/year from the facility.
According to Mike Sabel and Bob Pender, co-CEOs for Venture Global LNG, the additional commitment from Shell represents a “significant validation” in the company’s ambition to start construction on the facility later this year
